The Outlander Tour from Inverness
If you have found yourself caught up in the authentic and spell-binding ‘Outlander’ saga and wish to follow in the footsteps of some of Claire and Jamie’s adventures, then come and experience The Outlander Tour from Inverness and the places that inspired the writer Diana Gabaldon to write her famous books. These books now turned into the globally successful TV series.
You will visit Culloden Battlefield and hear the story of this tragic battle and see the Fraser Stone, beneath which the slain Fraser clansmen lie buried. Then onto nearby Clava Cairns (Craig na Dun), Castle Leod, (the inspiration for Castle Leoch), the ancestral home of the Clan MacKenzie and one of the most romantic and unspoilt castles in the Highlands. You’ll also visit the beautiful nearby Loch Garve and the Falls of Rogie.
We will also spend time in Beauly (Cranesmuir), a stronghold of the Clan Fraser and where you can visit the tranquil ruins of Beauly Priory where Claire met Mairi the seer.
Later you will visit the unique Wardlaw Mausoleum and its genuinely eerie and haunted crypt, the final resting place of many of the Fraser Clan including the son of Simon Fraser, ‘The Fox’ the cunning Clan Chief of the Frasers at the time of Culloden. Notorious in life as in death ‘The Old Fox’ was the last man to be beheaded at Tower Hill in London for siding with the Jacobite cause.
Book the The Outlander Tour from Inverness for a fascinating trip exploring the rich history of the Highlands and a ‘must see’ for Outlander enthusiasts.
